I'm just saying you are letting/using climategate to taint the research of the vast majority of climate scientists (there's over 1600 climate scientists working for the Federal Government alone).

OK , its fine to point out the errors of THOSE scientists who engaged is such conduct and to continue to point out such errors/tactics if there is evidence that these scientists are continuing to do so, but not to impugn the entire field of scientists working therein on the basis of the actions of a few.

Why does the right, in general, want to do this? I don't know for sure, but probably because of the economic inferences to be drawn out of Hansen's recommendations--which I admit would be drastic if implemented (shut down coal mining).

The implementation (or not) is for the nation collectively to make, but it should be looked at based on the science of such (or lack thereof) and not any well designed smearing campaigns. The right is trying to say some of the science methodology is/was flawed for political reasons and therefore everyone/all with that view can't be trusted.

It boggles the mind that they think the entire scientific research on this issue is corrupted by, apparently, a rotten few.
