Funny you mention that since I'm currently hanging out in Indonesia. Wish I had time to visit Borneo.

But my primary point is that the use of PMs as a medium of exchange is just as fraught with potential fraud as paper currency. You have to be absolutely assured of the purity of the PM coin you are accepting as payment. And carrying around assay equipment is not very convenient.

As for being safe and valuable, it all depends on where you are hiding/hoarding it. At least cash isn't susceptible to metal detection equipment.. ;)
