So do you doubt that wages are set in non union work places, by being more competitive than union wages?

Do you not believe that companies will act differently towards employees if they know labor laws will be enforced. Like making sure that all hours worked are paid for?

I personally hate working in a union environment. I have not had to manage union people for at least ten years. But I do know how executives respond to unions and aggressive application of labor laws.

In many cases employees are organized because of poor management.

I see two sides of the argument, on one side you can sell your skills to whoever picks you up for work while waiting outside of home depot. Many of the houses are here were built by illegals. On the other side you can pick up skilled craft by calling the union hall were wages and work conditions are set. Now if your kid was a construction electrician who would you like him to be working for? In this case the wages of the workers in construction are not more competitive as the union wages.
