Kayaker, I wonder if the default will be the bottom. When it happens - it certainly will not be a surprise. What will be interesting to see is the actions taken to backstop Italy and Spain.

How stale do you think the Greece default news is?

Would the markets breathe a huge sigh of relief to get it out of the way?

I think they would, the unknown is;

Will austerity measures bring about a European recession?
Will the vultures decend next on Portugal or Spain?
