The best thing Obama could do to fire up his base is...

SAY NO TO THE KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE...be clear and firm about it and say that our country must become a better steward of this planet and make a stronger effort to get off oil...and we must do more to protect our precious ground water supplies...there is way too much risk in rolling the dice on the highly controversial Keystone XL Tar Sands Pipeline.

'What are environmentalists, Ds and Obama doing to abolish the myth that Rs are pedaling?'

I think very little on the regulatory side or tax side has really changed.. A bunch of brainwashing. Now Obamacare and Dodd/Frank as issues might have some validity. Still I believe most of our problem is due to continued deleveraging from the housing/credit bubble, lack of confidence, tight credit, record wealth disparity hollowing out the middle class, the working class finally feeling the effects of ongoing globalization and technology changes over the past 25 years and a political divide only making it worse. That said companies look at cost of capital now at the lowest levels in modern times versus projected cash flow yields from operations to make decisions on hiring or expanding or building and freeing up capital for the small businesses shut out in recent years is paramount. Further marginal tax cuts for the top 1% is such a small component in decision making almost hilarious to me as it has very little impact on corporate decision making and adds so little to incremental demand by consumers....If I have a lot of money I try to invest it and earn a substantially higher return than keeping it in a bank. If I borrow the money in order to survive long term I must earn substantially more than my cost of borrowing. If I am so filthy rich I think about other things and protecting my nest egg rather than mess with the rat race
