Imagine how well off the billion in India must be with all that amortized previous investment and masses increasing demand on the limited water and other supplies: <Isn't the market rent already taking account in an amortized fashion the return on the assets built over 100 years? If India was to double the population again, they'd be the richest people on Earth, amortizing everything flat out and doing services galore. Personally, I was happy to have water just run downhill to me from my dam and drive on my uncrowded roads and catch loads of fish just down the road from our house. Now I have had to get out more money to pay to collect water from the Waikato river, clean up the muck in it, and pump it from sea level uphill to me which requires electricity and lots of pumping. And, when Taupo erupts, it will destroy the river and there wil be no water. Meanwhile, we also have to pay a toll to the local Maoris who claim ownership of the river [even though they were all genocided a couple of centuries ago according to the experts like TJ, ElM and others who don't understand VVV]. Hopefully the Maoris don't decide they need real payments - the toll is pretty low at present I believe and might even just involve "consultancy". Mqurice
