The issues with wind farms, from several sources here, are noise (if you live near one), "dirty energy" (lots wasted trying to get it in phase with the grid), bird kills (insignificant compared to those killed by cats alone), electricity used starting the things up, and the amount of concrete (carbon unfriendly) used to create the necessary foundations.

All told though, they seem to be a winner, unless you believe the center of the planet is full of oil just waiting to be pumped out.
