Alan:

Actually, I noted the Nikkei drop before sleeping.

Quite frankly, what is said on SI has very little (if any) influence on the market price. But, the whole issue of SE Asian problem is over-blown for the computer component makers who manufacture there and sell mostly in the US. Competition will have an effect, as in any other sector. The SE Asian crises will have a devastating effect on those firms who depend on selling there because a conversion of revenues to dollars will be lower.

I am acutely aware of the global financial markets and have made many posts in "Ask Mohan about the Market" which is a hot subject on SI. I am not implying that QNTM will go up in a few days; it may do the opposite. Neither am I implying that the price will not go up. I assume that yesterday's price was determined by the market, given all factors including panic.

I see QNTM as a leading company in this area, meeting consistently the expected profits. It is now getting affected because of the press, which prompted me to buy some.

Thus, I have no wishful thinking here; just a rendition of economics of the matter IMO.

Thanks anyway for your view.

Sankar

To All,

This is a pretty bearish market... I can't trust my gut feelings anymore, in fact the exact opposite appears to be a better choice.
And fundamentals, well I just don't think the market is paying much if any attention to them at the moment.

Chuck

P.S
Just about everybody I know in Quantum follows the market closely, but there is incredible danger in trying to lead the market around by the ring in its nose... You could easily hurt the company more than help it with such tactics. (Just my humble opinion)

>> Sure MKE's lower labour rate will help, but the
danger far outway the downside
<<

are mke's production facilities in se asia or japan? the yen has been on a long decline for months, but hasn't been caught up in the the se asian turmoil. if the production facilities are in japan, any benefit from the devaluation will be muted.
