Yes, but how about in countries wherein the temperature stays above 100 for a much longer periods of time--like in the Middle East and Africa.

I mean is their break even point wherein it makes economic sense to cover the canal to stem the rate of evaporation based on more 100 plus temperature days? I expect a lot would also depend on the price one could charge for the water.
