I agree with you more than I disagree. There a lot of crazy religions around. Most don't last that long. It is mostly mumble jumble. There are a dozen or so major religions that have lasted a long time. They mostly fall between Western and Eastern Civilizations. Religion from Eastern Civilizations rely a little less on mumble jumble and a little more based on philosophy.

Major religions from Western Civilization (eg Judaism, Christianity, and Islam share the same root. They are slightly more sophisticated in so far as philosophy is concerned. Their major flaw is the absurd notion that God has communicated directly with humans and revealed "truths" and that it is up to humans to understand these communigues. And at the end of the day, the only way to believe in these messages from God require a leap in faith - and if you don't leap you will go to hell.
