If Jon Stewart is doing Solyndra, this has legs that reach into the WH. But Stewart doesn't even cover the worst part. The fact that someone made the decision to illegally subordinate federal debt to private debt AFTER everyone knew Solyndra was headed down the tubes. That person should go to jail:

Jon Stewart Blasts Obama Administration For Solyndra Scandal
video
by Alex Alvarez | 11:48 pm, September 15th, 2011

You guys have been waiting for this, huh? Try not to kiss (or punch) your computer screens too hard, y’all.

So. Solyndra. (Imagine we’re whispering seductively in your ear, perhaps whilst wearing a Ronald Reagan mask, if you’re into such things.) Solyndra is a solar energy company that declared bankruptcy late last month, letting go of each and every one of its 1,100 workers. That’s incredibly bad timing for the Obama administration right now as the President gears up for 2012. See, the company received over $500 million in federal loans (some reports have it at $528 million, others have as much as $535 million) under the 2009 stimulus law. In fact, Solyndra was the very first renewable energy company to receive a loan guarantee under that law, and quickly became something of a crown jewel in the Obama’s administration’s clean energy program, with the President even touring its facilities and praising its work in a speech you will likely see auto-tuned in the very near future. Pretty bad. And it gets worse…

House Republican investigators found email evidence of repeated warnings about the company and its green energy projects, with one calling it “not ready for prime time” and others warning that it was doomed to run out of money this very month. And and and, there’s also evidence that one investor in Solyndra, George Kaiser, was also a fundraiser for Obama and made several visits to the White House in order to visit with several aides.

Jon Stewart explained what this might mean for a certain popular media outlet:

Fox News, call your doctor. Because the erection you currently have is going to last longer than four hours.

Do you suppose Rick Perry and Mitt Romney are both performing the running man at this very moment?

So gather yourselves together, make sure your bedroom doors are locked, and check out the video below, courtesy of Comedy Central:

There were warning signs that the White House willingly ignored, perhaps out of sheer denial.

Well of course. Thats what liberals do. They wouldn't be liberals if they did not deny facts.

I am not sure what they were thinking. It is strange.

Who would think that Tony Rezko's old pal* would be involved in a lousy business development deal with a political crony where the taxpayer's got hosed?

* Obama got his start in politics with Rezko's financial backing, helped Rezko get government-financed housing deals, got Rezko involved in buying Obama's own home, and as a state senator helped lower the number of positions on two state boards (the Teachers Retirement System and the Health Facilities Planning boards) to make it easier for Rezko to stack the boards with cronies in an attempt to win kickbacks and contracts (for which Rezko is currently in prison).

The list of names in the Rezko indictment includes about eight persons referred to as “Co-Schemers,” and reads like a “who’s who list” of major campaign donors to Obama, Blagojevich, Daley and other powerful Illinois politicians.

Blagojevich is referred to as “Public Official A,” Obama is referred to as a “political candidate,” and there is a list of “Individuals” from “Individual A” all the way up to “Individual HH.”

The first board controls the Teachers Pension System, which administers pensions and benefits for all Illinois teachers except for those in Chicago, and the Health Facilities Planning Board, which approves all proposals for construction projects that involve medical facilities in Illinois.

The Teacher’s Pension fund has over $30 billion in assets. Investment firms that want to do business with the fund submit proposals, and the board votes on whether to approve the proposal.

Once Blagojevich took office, the co-schemers were able to stack the TRS board with members who would vote whichever way they were told. Once they accomplished that feat, they demanded kickbacks from investment firms in exchange for the approval of their proposals.

Rezko’s partner in the Rezmar development company, Daniel Mahru, is referred to as “Individual Z” in the indictment, and according to court filings, Rezko told Mahru that “$500 million” of TRS money was earmarked for their company. Mahru is reportedly cooperating with federal investigators.

In addition to lining their own pockets, the money gained through the scheme was funneled to the campaigns of Blagojevich and Obama.

Obama was chairman of the Senate Health & Human Services Committee in January 2003. A few articles in the media have mentioned that Obama sat on a committee that reviewed matters related to the Planning Board in conjunction with the Governor's staff but none have discussed his integral part in getting the bill passed

A review of senate records from January 2003 to August 2003, shows Obama played a major role as chairman of that committee, in pushing through Senate Bill 1332, that led to the "Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act," which reduced the number of members on the Board from 15 to 9, making the votes much easier to rig.

It was both incompetence and corruption working in combination.
