When I was in 9th grade I had a female science teacher from India. I couldn't understand her and had trouble with the class. When I got a low grade my parents had a meeting with her. After the meeting they told me, "We know what you mean, we couldn't understand her." They lodged their complaint with the school but nothing happened.

It is not discriminatory to disqualify anyone from teaching due to an inability to communicate in understandable English. If a teacher cannot properly enunciate understandable English, their students will be unnecessarily academically disadvantaged and also be at a disadvantage to other students with understandable teachers. If the Obama administration wants to "protect" difficult to understand teachers, what is to prevent them from allowing a teacher who's had a laryngectomy and wants or has to use an electrolarynx to teach. I've never been able to understand the unfortunate people who use electrolarynxes so I can't imagine them being allowed to teach using one - but I'll be this administration can. They'd find that this person should be especially "protected" because they're disabled.

Education is supposed to be about the students, not the teachers. If they can't fulfill this simple basic requirement let them "administrate" in another position rather than make learning difficult. Our kids do not deserve to have their motivation to learn destroyed by politics.
