It possibly could lower midwestern gasoline costs. Again, I'd need to see or know there's a written agreement....another troublesome thing the opponents of it talk about is that the terminus of the pipeline is at a point in the Gulf that is such that no taxes made on the oil coming from it would be payed to the US.....I've not verified this with another source.... At bottom, it's a very difficult decision, imo....to do more cracking of our earth over major aquifers by companies who promise that leaks will be contained to small areas(when have we heard a company being honest about the tragedy that can happen as they're selling a plan?) for oil that we may or may not benefit from, is not something I support.... Imo, they can figure a way of doing this pipeline on their own soil and sell it to us.....but they don't want to further risk their own precious beauty(mean it sincerely because I've traveled in CA)? They're own citizens won't let them? OTOH----the reality of the situation for Obama is as I and others have said : we're in a major recession, 1 out of 6 people in poverty, the R messaging machine is far superior to ours, the average american hardly knows anything about it beyond the jobs and that we'll buy oil cheaper from a friend and not a foe...latter still not verified..... O (and the American people who worry about our environment) is in a damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.....if he approves, he could lose the election on this issue alone because the far left, who worked so hard for him, won't do so in the battleground states with the fervor and boots on the ground gotv that Obama needed to win in the first place.......only to have an R pres come in and approve the pipeline with nary a care of who gets the oil, what price, etc because they're already being lined by Valero, Exxon et. al.....and we taxpayers pay for every gallon of gasoline the Prez uses, to boot! If he doesn't approve: The R message machine will go out in a tour de force of selling lies and distortions regarding the damage to the economy, "he's anti-business!" that O has done......and he'll lose the election. Consequently, the pipeline will still be put up......and we'll have an R in the WH that follows the TPers edicts and the destruction to our society that they want to pursue...................................
