<a collective vision > The Endangered Species Act is about as pro-life as it gets. I don't see how being pro-life is a 'collective vision', unless by that you mean a view that respects the value of life. I also don't see why a LACK of respect for life should be a source of pride for any American -- whether as a proud individual that has values and lives by them or as a citizen of a proud nation that has values and lives by them. If you are concerned that respect for life might conflict with extracting and consuming oil, I can understand that could be an issue. What price do we put on life? It would seem that life is pretty cheap all around the world -- maybe we should join the crowd -- but I was never one to join crowds. I would rather live by values.
