Mark, If one thinks the economic world is ending - sell calls. Remember, a short call has an unlimited loss possibility. A short put has the limit of the put value. If one is pessimistic - I would consider selling bear call spreads (sell the close call and buy a more expensive call).

Let's see what the futures are tonight. Miracles do happen - the Browns won today, the Bearcats won yesterday and the Indians have come back to lead over the Twins. I think I just saw a cow fly by our window!

Mark,

It may all come crashing down but that doesn't mean we can't make money.

I'm comfortable writing puts on a selective few energy companies through the volatility as I don't see them going much lower. Hesitant on writing many calls at these levels as the market could take off higher regardless of how bad the news gets.

Regardless, I have tight rules on trading options and when a trade goes bad, it's closed ASAP.
