Doesn't even have to be turned into liquid fuel. Look at Westport (WPRT). It's teaming up with Shell to fuel trucks and buses with compressed, liquified, methane.

turning low cost, abundant natural gas that otherwise probably can't be monetized for many decades, into liquid fuels for the transportation sector is a good idea anywhere. Lets all have more economic growth and greater energy independence:-)


I would love to know the economics of this process. Sasol gasified coal to syn gas to produce gasoline. An Ammonia plant converts natural gas to syn gas (CO and H2). One would think the natural gas front end of a Sasol facility would be a whole lot less costly than a coal based front end. I have always thought this was a good idea - but it never seems to happen.
