OCTOBER SEMI EQUIPMENT BOOK-TO-BILL 1.06

Statistical recap. Semiconductor Equipment and Materials
International (SEMI), a semiconductor equipment industry trade
association, reported its October booking and shipment statistics
yesterday evening (11/18). The U.S.-based semi equipment suppliers'
book-to-bill ratio was 1.06 on orders of $1637.7 million, down 8%
sequentially but up 97% year-over-year, and shipments of $1547.7
million, down 5% sequentially but up 44% year-over-year. The front-end book-to-bill was 1.02 on orders down 12% sequentially and up 79% year-over-year, the test book-to-bill was 1.18 on orders up 1% sequentially and up 180% year-over-year, and the assembly book-to-bill was 1.18 on orders up 10% sequentially and up 118% year-over-year. September's aggregate book-to-bill ratio was revised from 1.07 to 1.09, chiefly due to a 2% upward order revision. August's aggregate book-to-bill was revised from 1.09 to 1.10, also the result of a modest upward revision to orders.
