How does this affect GTE if at all. By the way, what are they going to
do with all that cash they are sitting on from not getting MCI <G> JB

[Well, it beats being poked in the eye with a pointed stick]

If you look at trading today, there is a ton of shares cashing in at 19 9/16's. I bet Texas Instruments is buying all those shares since they will be at a discount to the merger. Someone big is because despite probably a million shares on the bid, the bid is not slipping downward. Possibly a big arbitrageur is of the feeling that 20 is merely a minimum bid for Amati. I tend to agree. We are certainly not getting less than 20, and perhaps another bid pushes it beyond to say 25 in a stock deal. There is no real reason to dump your shares unless you have some other bargain basement stocks you're eyeing.

This has got to be good news for those holding November 15's and 17.5's (not me)!

Regards,

Richard

PPS. On the really bright side, it's nice to be able to tell Steve G. "I told you so!" after all that gibberish about Westell over paying for Amati. <G>
