>Yeah, minimum wage jobs......what we here call jobs for teens, but in LA, these jobs need to feed a family of four........which means the husband and wife have to work two jobs.

I'm seeing that right now in my family; my mother and stepfather have both had their wages and benefits cut, so at almost 60 years old, they're scrambling to make extra income on the side, and my father had his earnings slashed at the same time he's starting to see medical costs come in due to getting older, so he's out looking for a second job and can't find anything over minimum wage.

Yes, and they are not alone. Usually the towel boys at my gym are teens. However, suddenly last month, there were older people working the towels......more middle aged. And one guy......he walks, talks and dresses like a Boeing engineer. It would not surprise me if he had a professional job before working at my gym

But as Bush said when confronted by the woman working three jobs to make ends meet, "Ain't that the American way?" (or something thereabouts)....

Did he have to take out his silver spoon to say it?

There are a hell of a lot of people at the higher end of the economic scale that like it this way.

Probably so. They clearly have no empathy. The irony is they don't think it can happen to them but it does.

My biochemist R cousin started an allergy testing lab. Apparently, he got into some financial trouble and had to go to his brother for a big coin bailout. If his brother hadn't been able to help, he would have been in serious, serious trouble. I will never understand what makes them so mean spirited.

And then Dave and Jim coming out and defending this congressman from Louisiana who makes over a half million a year.......its just outrageous. And did you hear, O'Reilly is threatening to quit if his taxes go up. Such flagrant silliness. Maybe they will all move to another country. Wouldn't that be nice. ;-)
