Yes, only garlic i grow is the real thing, hard-neck, often use the term 'russian' as do others but of course it comes from all over central Asia and Europe now ... mostly porcelains but not all, getting to like a purple stripe name of Persian Star ... tried rocamboles but will plant only bulbils now, may phase them out, too much peeling on small cloves and no advantages for the work ... for those of us who eat them like apples as a side dish, you want cloves the size of golf balls -g- ... not really kidding, some are very close to that

If it's not hardneck it probably comes from the tropics, China or Pakistan or wherever, or grown in California using chemicals, not the same thing at all, and with no price advantage when you consider the weight ... the honest to god stuff grown here, even by a chemical farmer, is probably 'organic' because it doesn't need or benefit from anything unnatural, outside of a little rum to disinfect cloves for planting, and rum is considered natural by many i know
