OT: Still in effect, some small scale fishing, pilot projects by government to check stocks...Foreign boats are still fishing on the Grand Banks, some legal and licensed by CDN gov. Newfoundlanders are not allowed to fish.. O the Government opens a food fishery for the locals, in the middle of summer(worse time) and allows them to catch 5 fish a day per person , maximun 15 fish to a boat. Will be open again late sept. a much better time to catch. My own experience was there are lots of fish, and are increasing.
Where I was this summer fish were being caught practically in the harbour , never used to be like that when I lived there..
Seemed to be lots of bait fish also herring and mackeral caught by rod and reel, squid were just starting to come ashore when I left. Got some flounder, first I've seen in many years.
