Joe, Do the automatic cuts across the board effecting all items in the budget kick in moving us towards a balanced budget. Isn't that what was agreed upon in the legislation increasing the debt ceiling.


Guess we will just have to wait and see!! I do not know what would happen at that point. My guess, without looking at the language, would be that we would have a budget shutdown. During my bargaining years sometimes the teachers had to allow a shut down until the "pain of not settling," on both side of the parties, "became so much greater than the pain to settle." Both of the parties were driven to settle because of perceived personal and economic pain.
