"This isn't a defense of Bush or an attack on Clinton. It's a simple statement of fact. Bush did not get handed a clean economy." That brings up an interesting point. The only president who was handed a decent economy in the last 35 years was G H W Bush. Reagan inherited a mess from Carter. Unemployment at 7.5% when he took office. Clinton inherited a lousy economy from Bush. Unemployment was at 7.3%. That was the reason Bush only lasted one term. Obama claims he inherited a mess BFD. Unemployment was at 7.8%. So did three out of his four predecessor. He should grow up and take responsibility.
