Again, US domestic oil production has increased for both of the last two years, as has gas production, look at results. To begin production in deep waters takes 10 to 15 years from the time of the start of the geo survey. By the way from 1982 to 2008 US domestic oil production went down every year. Lets get production up in easy to reach areas like the North dakota Bakken then , as technology becomes more sophisticated we can tap deep water areas more quickly and more safely. Unless the north slope production completely collapses overnight domestic production may be up again despite the issues clouding some production areas in the gulf due to the BP spill.
