You make good points. However, it is tough to try to be expert in every discipline. I prefer to be a good fundamentalist. However, when I consider buying a stock I do look at a chart. If it does not look good, I always search for a reason why in the fundamentals. If I do not find one, I will probably stay away. If I find one, then I apply my fundamental analysis skills to judge whether the market has correctly discounted the situation. Don't forget the price often gets carried away in both directions, which is what creates opportunity.
