[Street's view]-- With TXN trading up over a point with this
buyout news, the market has deemed that $30 is fair value for
AMATI. TXN has 195 million shares outstanding, hence 1 point
up means amtx is worth another 195 million. If the market thought
txn was paying too much, you would see txn trade down by whatever
the market deemed the overvaluation to be. Comments are welcomed.

Hard to believe? Perhaps. I got cashed out of Learning Co. on Dec 29 or so a couple of years ago when they were bought out for cash. In retrospect, it was a great deal.

A strategy if you are charitably minded and have a gain this year: Donate AMTX shares. You get the tax deduction at $20/share with no capital gains! For example, say you bought at $10. Instead of taking your cash and paying taxes on $10 gain, you donate stock for a $20/share deduction. If you are in a relatively high tax bracket, you can make a donation that really costs you relatively little.
