Actually John Dean was pissed that Nixon wouldn't pardon him so he ratted everyone out but still went to prison. He was the only one who continued in politics, as a liberal activist. The Nixon Admin turned a lot of people into liberals. It took me until the Clinton Admin to get over it, when the slick dishonesty of Clinton drove me in the other direction and to be reminded of the many good values and desirable characteristics associated with conservative principles

Ehrlichman remained embittered and never had a career after that, except to exploit the Watergate episode for whatever cash he could get trying to produce documentaries.

Haldeman invested in restaurant and hotel businesses but his ventures were not enriched by his Watergate boondoggle.

G. Gordon Liddy is an exception not the rule. He is an incomparable personality who can't be reckoned with. Liddy's background was FBI work. He was the architect and the organizer of Watergate. He directed the whole operation and a wide range of other questionable operations for Nixon. He was actually restrained in his broader ideas of how to damage the Democratic Party. He had plans to do every kind of sabbotage, including dropping LSD into the drinks of Dems who were to give public addresses. He's an unstoppable and hard to believe likable maniac.
