Yes, but nobody knew WHEN that would happen. If it had happened next year instead of last, Solyndra might be sitting pretty right now.

With the rising prices, it wasn't long before refining capacity was added and prices began to fall again. Note: There will never be a lasting shortage of silicon....it is the second most common element on earth.

Now, would you invest in a company that claims its competitive edge is based on the high price of silicon (as your article clearly states) when experts in the field clearly understood back then that the high prices were temporary and would come back down when more refining capacity came on line? If so, I've got a bridge......


plus the added capacity does not appear overnight.........probably 2 years from announced expansion.... to fab construction...... to full production. Solyndra was about to fold already by March 2011. Two years prior is March 2009..........final loan approval was Sept 2009. I find it hard to believe information detailing all the future added capacity was not available before then.
