To All: I have gotten word from a reputable firm, that GHV is going to takeoff tomorrow with their earnings release. I believe this and loaded up on GHV. Just wanted to drop you guys the tip. If you don't get in by COB today, it might be a little late. The expectation is to go from 24 to 28-30 in the next few days. Just remember, this is an unconfirmable tip. So, treat it with caution. IN, After some profit-taking on the long-bond in the next day or 3 (or week or 5 depending on everything of course), the trend in the yield should continue under 6%. It looks like what the market needs for that improvement is on the way. The sooner, the better. Doug R

POWs vs the Dow -- Not a pretty picture! -------------------------------------------- Just exactly HOW have the POWs done during the DOWs recent correction? Today the DOW closed higher than the day before the big drop on 10/27/97. Below are the numbers for the POWs on 10/24/97 and today. Quick summary: Best performer: RECY! (+12%) Worst performer: NOIZ (-16.9%) Beating the DOW: ATPX,MLOG,RADAF,RECY,SEEQ,VCR Beaten by the DOW: APCO,BLSC,BOSCF,CADE,DIGL,HURC,MTON,NOIZ,RLLY,TRIBY Total Performance: -40.8% (assumes equal amount of $ in each POW) Total Performance without BLSC: -26.3% (I think Doug dropped BLSC) Clearly, the POW portfolio has taken a severe beating.
