Although I can't find any evidence such a grant was made, there is a huge difference between a small grant (which is revenue to an organization) versus a massive, 500 million dollar subordinated loan.

I don't think there was any grant but if there was it was nowhere near the amount of money involved here and it was made with a specific purpose.

The Bush administration would not have been involved in a nasty scandal like this. Bush, for whatever else he did, was 100% above board and didn't tolerate this kind of bullshit. Obama, OTOH, is neck-deep in it.

I can't seem to find it again, either. It was on the website of one of the other grant recipients. The best I can do right now is find this press release, which announces that Solyndra was a finalist -- ndia.org
