Honestly, I hate Perry and Bachmann. The only GOP candidate I take seriously is Ron Paul. That is who I'm voting for. The rest are bought and paid for by the financial industry and I'd readily agree with you that it is their ilk that got us into this mess in the first place.

You continue to disappoint. Ron Paul is a racist, mad man who has moments of lucidity. I am sorry that he is in Congress........and his son is not much better.

However, getting us out of this mess will take someone who understands the economy better. Unfortunately, the Democrats don't get it either. Keynesianism is giving more heroin to the heroin addict. You don't solve a debt crisis with more debt. Do you really think they are going to solve the Greek crisis with endless more lending and more debt? No way. Neither is the US going to solve our crisis and economic issues with more money printing and more deficit spending and more debt.

First of all, every Keynesian economist in this country beseeched Congress to pass a bigger stimulus bill......that the one passed was not big enough.........but there were barely the votes for the one that did pass. And they were right........the recession was much deeper than the Rs would admit.

Secondly, at the time of our fiscal crisis, Keynesian economics is the only thing that made any sense. American banks had seized up and industry had shut down. Under circumstances like that, the only game in town were the feds. Even the states couldn't do a damn thing. We needed stimulus; not spending cuts. Hoover already tried that in 1932.

So then, you are wrong. Very sorry.

Let rid of the heroin and we will most surely feel pain. A lot of it, but there is light at the end of that tunnel. We will survive and come away stronger and we will no longer be addicts. Keep taking more heroin, though, and it will kill us.

What almost killed us was starting two wars while cutting taxes and not having the money to pay for them and the budget. This silly libertarian/ conservative notion that gov'ts can operate on a starvation diet is what's killing this country. I am as fiscally conservative as any reasonable conservative but putting the country on a forced anorexic diet doesn't benefit anyone.

In addition when you talk about pain, its not people like you who will feel real pain. Yeah, your IRA may go down and you may not be able to go out to dinner as much but you will manage. Its the marginal guy who will suffer........and when the pain gets to be too much, that's when the marginal guys revolt. You would be surprised how people behave when they have nothing to lose. Of course, then people like you will be screaming bloody murder because your businesses and homes are under attack.
