a national sales tax would be the best of all possible taxes, as long as every other tax was eliminated

We need an amendment to make other forms of taxation illegal first. :-)

Sure, I can agree with you; however, the other taxes must go if you are going to a single tax. A National Sales Tax.

Of course a National Sales Tax could be cumulative to the point that -------at each step of the way the National Sales Tax becomes a part of the price of the item and is taxed again.

George Bush Senior lost on the basis of his promise "Read My Lips No New Taxes". There is still a large portion, the amount I don't know, who do not want 'new taxes' unless there is a change in the total structure.

In other words a National Sales Tax could very well become like a 'value-added-tax' where each step of production and consumption is taxed.

I believe that Obama would just love to get his fingers on a 'National Sales Tax" ---------just think of all of the people and money he could control-----with promises of more jobs.

Just think what a National Sales Tax on an automobile of average $25,000. would be-----------10% would be $2,500 then add to that the State Sales Tax , for discussion sakes-------5%. That would be 15% of the $25,000 or would be $3,750.00 for a $25,000. car in taxes .

No thanks no more money to the Federal Government-----------I want the $ to stay local and State and used for the purposes of each State.
