Actually, a lot of people die in a deep crisis, if you mean that by "survival".
It usually strikes the retired population hard. They don't survive. Once their
wealth is taken, they just die. The youth dies in mafia
wars (contract killings) and prisons.

If Wall Street implodes, everything implodes. Pensions implode. Get thrown on the federal government at which time the dollar implodes. 401ks implode, IRA;s implode. Inflation implodes. Deflation explodes.
