It is my opinion that little kids can be taught to be homosexual...
================================================
As much as I object to the LGBT agenda (or any sexuality oriented curricula) being taught in schools, I disagree that kids can be taught to be homosexual (or bi or trans).

There are several issues with the whole push of the LGBT agenda in schools though. The first in my mind is simply that school should be about academics, no pushing an agenda. Pushing an agenda qualifies as propaganda. The second issue is that kids can generally give a rats ass about this stuff until they are about 12 anyway. Focusing on sex and sexuality in elementary school is prematurely sexualizing kids. I don't care if it is LGBT sex or hetero, there is absolutely no justification to be focusing on this in elementary school.

My son (age 12) has one friend and one acquaintance who have two moms. I was there when one of the boys responded to my son's question about "what does your dad do?" with "I have two moms". My son processed that and simply said "oh cool" and they went on playing (this was when they were about 8 years old). Kids not need to be taught how to deal with LGBT families. They get the information and process it and tuck it away into their view of the world.

In one of the families, the kid (Spencer) is well adjusted, very much a boy, has a girlfriend (insofar as a 12 year old can have a girlfriend) and is an all around good kid. And his two moms are pretty much like any two parents that I have met.

The other family, the boy (Max) is a bit of a jerk and sometimes even a bully. He also clearly identifies himself as heterosexual. The fact that he is a bit of a jerk doesn't seem to be related to the fact that his moms are gay, but rather, it is who he is.

In either case, I simply don't believe that you can teach anyone to be gay. I don't believe that I was taught to be straight and I don't believe that there is anything anyone could have done to cause me to orient myself as gay. I think that most people, if they do the mind exercise, will agree that there is nothing that anyone could do to convince them to orient themselves as gay.

I actually think this is an important point. If the objections come from a place of "they are trying to make my kid gay" it sounds like it is coming from a place of fear and is dismissed. But if it is coming from a place of "it is inappropriate to focus on ANY sexuality with young children, it is coming from a place of rational parental responsibility.

BTW: the sex ed stuff in california elementary schools is not treated as optional. The paperwork that they send home makes it clear that there is no opt out. The most that they will do is allow the parent to be in the classroom. Of course, there is not much they can do if your child is "sick" on sex ed day.
