There are some different dynamics in play in the playoffs in 2011...

In 2006, the Tigers used their #4 starter in game 1. Did they still try to win? Of course. But with Robertson on the bump, what happened was foreseeable. They had their 3 best pitchers in games 2, 3, and 4 with Verlander, Rogers, and Bonderman. For game 1 in this series, the Tigers just burned their 2 best starting pitchers. Now, the series depends on the younger Scherzer and then Porcello, if they get to game 4. Hopefully good Scherzer shows up today. And the Tigers offense will need to hit up to potential -- so far the big bats like Cabrera, Martinez and Peralta have been way too quiet.

In many ways we can't really compare this playoff series with what happened in 2006. Very different dynamics.
