I believe that this is a phase that is popular now in what I would call a voluntary policing state of the military. My belief is that the gay community is going to lament that they are asking for equality when we break out in a full-on war. Which, as we all know, is far more likely under a democrat president who is trying to divert attention away from himself. The quest for equality has taken on a bizarre insistence that we ignore reality. We see this in a variety of jobs. I remember when flight attendants had to be physically fit and had to fit into certain physical size limits? Now, one could argue that this was to ensure that we had great eye candy while we flew. Or we can look at it as the need to have someone physically fit and able to move around quickly in a tight space during an emergency. Which one would think is a pretty important requirement. Basically, we are being asked to ignore that men and women are not only physically different, they are emotionally and mentally different as well. How does this apply to the gays in military thing? If you use a two 20 year old couples, one male/male and one male/female, those relationships are going to be completely different based simply on the fact that the vast majority of men, whether gay or straight, are more interested in notches on the bedpost at that age than women. Women will generally be looking for a more committed monogamous relationship. When you have a man and a woman, they will tend to balance each other out and create a more stable relationship. Put two men together and it is like two waves meeting in phase and amplifying each other. In other words, you ain't gettin a real stable relationship. Sure, there will exceptions to both situations, but as a general rule, pretty much everyone knows that this is common sense and it is biological, not cultural in nature. I keep on thinking about that little punkass Bradley Manning that leaked all of the documents to wikileaks. He was gay and obviously anti-military and anti-U.S. I don't know what the requirements are to get the non-combat military positions are, but I do believe that those jobs are the driver for this new call for equality. I don't believe that gays who want to fight for the U.S. are driving the movement (and I admit I could be wrong). I doubt that Bradley Manning would have joined up if he was going to be required to pick up a weapon and actually use it against an enemy. And maybe that is the answer to all of this.
