Thoughts on potential parking places (I'm currently reviewing this myself since I have sizeable gains in 3 issues & I want to take some off the table and diversify)

1. SBEI - very successful turnaround. The 4th qtr about to be released will make all the difference in PE & balance sheet ratios. They'll be replacing a big loss with a solid qtr (I spoke to their VFO last week, who is comfortable with the EPS estimate)

2. AXC - long downtrend turns it into a significant value. Industry leader in terabyte, very high speed tape storage (DST)that is finding an emerging place in the market. Big variables are getting the first disk drive maker to commit to keepered Media (cheep way to significantly increase capacity and improve read/write reliability) and the success or failure in several pattent infringement cases. CEO just bought a bunch of shares.

3. MRVC looks good, except the major insider sales recently.

Mostly I'm looking at some companies that are either recently profitable with huge projected EPS growth rates (PLAT, EMLX)
or two bio-techs that have made a lot of progress clinically, have secured partnerships with major drug co's, and with several products in the pipeline with huge potential. So companies in best shape ever, yet price is way off hustoric highs. Either Worth or Money have an article in Spring 96 (finding the next MSFT). VICL, ISIP

But again, nothing as solid as EQNX or PTIX (especiall compared to where they sat in MAy before their run ups).

Rainier, if you or anyone else on this thread has another EQNX, let me know. PTIX got way overbought, now may be oversold. Scott

I'm actually hoping EQNX slows down and forms a solid base going into next qtr. If it goes up much more know, I'm getting concerned with significant profit taking and/or significant shorting starting a downtrend.

To Rainier on diversification oportunities. I mentioned SBEI a couple times before. A successfull turnaround - 4 profitable qtrs (1 minimal) after large losses. Huge year over year comparison. Growth in EPS, margins, revenue. Price/Sales of 1.71 (in "What Works on Wall Street" O'Shaunessy found that price/sales < 2.0 was the best of the single valuation ratios they studied in terms of future returns)

Now with the loss replaced with a huge qtr (.45) SBEI now has a PE of 11.7. The projected growth rate is not consistant with this year's results since it has not been bumped up for several qtrs. WSRN has not completed results for the industry comparison section at the link below, but the other items speak well. FYI Scott. (I don't frequently post about other companies on unrelated threads, but since this thread has focused on analysis and objective posting of all relevant news, thought this would be welcome. If anyone has a problem with this ost, please let me know)
