Debt jubilee? So they want me to learn for decades, work day and night for years, save, scrimp and do without, invest carefully after years of learning how, lend any profits to them, then they steal a lifetime of effort. Debtors prison seems a better idea. With bread, water and breaking rocks. Flogging might not be too harsh. Fraud should be punished. They already have a huge legal "out" called bankruptcy.

Stealing from people who put in the effort won't kick those producers into starting again to produce more. They will give up and maybe kick back, good and hard. < A "great haircut" to kick-start growth >

The bludgers should get a kick start, not the producers and savers. The problem is the bludgers and spivs. Giving them yet another load of loot won't get them kick started into working. It will give them more time to do nothing.
