No dividends included in those numbers, wasn't able to find reliable data.

Also note that decent stock pickers blew away the index performance, and that substantially higher returns occurred on miners after the physical gold peak.

Do not know about whether the calc incl dividends

It is interesting that as n when Lehman ii happens, should it happen, we must 'choose' whether to do short term wager on physical, miners, or usual big cap shares.
