I once got a second bill after paying for some dental work. It was an add on called PP for $50. I didn't pay it and was turned over to collection who went after my home and everything I had. Talked to a lady at the coffee shop who knew insurance. The PP was the discount the dentist gave the insurance for being a preferred provider, and it was against the law to bill the patient for that. Once he knew I knew he dropped it. I'm now kicking myself in the ass for not asking him for money not to have his billing records checked by the state.
