(N) (S) jumped $4 9/16 to $19 3/4 after Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN)
(N) (S) offered $20 a share for the company, scuttling the planned merger between Amati and Westell Technologies (Nasdaq: WSTL) (N) (S). After pondering an increased bid for Amati, Westell decided instead to enter into a multi-year strategic alliance with Texas Instruments.
