Bet many of those joining Wall Street protests don't know that hedge funds enjoy this special treatment of capital gains:

Ordinary people can claim long term capital gains if they have held the stocks for at least one year, otherwise the profit is treated as ordinary income.

How about hedge funds? They can hold the stock for 10 seconds, yes, ten seconds, and 60% of the gain is treated as long term and the other 40% is ordinary income!

Who let this little known sweetheart tax rule get out in the open? Non other than the great Warren Buffet during the "Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit 2011" on Oct 4, 2011. (The conference is on Oct 4 & 5).
