I'm sure most of them are students or are unemployed folks who have the time to make a point. Unfortunately, I have to work my 60 hours a week to make sure my kids can finish college and so that I can save enough money for my wife and I to retire and pay for health insurance on our own, because SS and Medicare will not be there to pay for anything. You see, I take care of myself and my own. I don't ask anyone to do a damned thing for me. I just want a government that keeps law and order and levels the playing field. Not one that strip searches me at airports, monitors my communications, bails out the irresponsible folks, and tells my gay neighbors who they can and can't marry. In short, I want a government that does what the Constitution says it should do, but otherwise stays the F out of my life. What you don't understand is that not everyone is as fortunate.........as you are right now. And trust, MM, your fortunes could change in the blink of an eye. Nothing is guaranteed. Competent people are losing their jobs. Businesses are going under. Every day people get illnesses that cause them to be disabled. The woman across from where I live recently got diagnosed with MS.......she's 38. How did she get it.......they think from one of her kids. Nothing is certain. That's why we have safety nets. Fortunately, this country is wealthy enough that it can afford those nets. There is no question that gov't is imperfect but its there for some very good reasons. We have traffic lights because we can't depend on everyone giving the other guy a chance to cross. We have speed limits because we can't depend on people doing the right thing. We have taxes so roads can be built to access your business. We have buses and trains so people can get to your business to work. You didn't get successful on your own.........the rest of us pay taxes so your business can operate successfully. This mean spirit that runs through the Republican party has been very much on display during the debates. They are not very nice people. When a gay soldier got booed, not one of the GOP candidates, including Ron Paul, said anything in his defense. When a question was posed about a 30 year old guy who gets very sick and doesn't have health insurance, someone yelled out "let him die" and many cheered. The problem isn't with SS or Medicare, the problem is with the way you all think. Its not Christian; its not American; its not humane. And its not conducive to running a successful country as was so evident during the debt ceiling debacle. You think you are different from the teapers but you're not.........you're their cousin....and not a distant one. MM, you've lost your way........and you've become miserly and miserable and just a little bit frightening. Sorry to be so candid............
