*** OT *** MSIE 4.0 may be very good for those who it works for, but when I put it on my NT 4.0 work PC, it was rendered inoperable with storage violations for everything I tried to do (even getting into the Windows Explorer). The only thing that did not blow up (thankfully) was the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS function in the Control Panel, which I used to remove the piece of crap from my system. My machine is running NT 4.0 Service Pack 3, MSFT vanilla except for the ZIP NT Tools software.

I thought I was just the unluckiest person here when yesterday, a coworker who installed MSIE 4.0 Beta 2 on his identically configured machine and had no problems, had to remove it (as per instructions for installing the GA release) when the beta expired. He had turned on the integrated desktop feature, and didn't turn it off before deinstalling - seems he accidentally missed that piece of the instructions. He rebooted to a dead system too. What fun!
