once the 50DMA crosses down over the 200DMA = bear market ... therefor I only look to short on the occasional exquisite moment.

That said, I have a large percentage of my portfolio; long the Mining Stock Index, on the idea that when derivatives begin to unwind, the short on gold does too. I have dreams of my portfolio moving 20-30% per day until it's up about a 1000% - hopefully I'll have the presence of mind to cash out before they close the darn thing down.

....but then again, they'll claw back my gains through taxation - then all I'll have is bragging rights. :(
