Xy,

Although AMD may soon have Compaq and Gateway as customers, without more such wins--like Dell--AMD could be in serious trouble.

Excuse me! I just don't understand your logic on the importance of Dell towards AMD? Why could AMD be in serious trouble if AMD does not get the design win from Dell?

Don't you know that Dell is priviate label for Intel? If Dell took Cyrix or AMD chip, Intel would be in serious trouble as you might suggest. Intel has helped Michael Dell cach enough fortune that the next three generations of Dell to live like loyal family. As long as Michael Dell stays as CEO, he would rather have a crash DELL stock than adopt alternative CPUs from Intel competitors.
