Honestly, I think Newt is damaged from 20 years of free floating liberal hatred, more or less like Cheney. A lot of people don't like him for reasons having no basis in fact. I hear you about the war on drugs, but I've come to believe it is a huge problem, IMO, a bigger one than terrorism. We will spend a trillion on it in next ten years, lose thousands of American lives, destroy countless others, and face potential violence along our entire southern border. I think it is the biggest threat we face outside of the economy. And it is problematic because there is no will to look at it realistically. I just don't think newt can look at it reasonably. I pretty much like him otherwise and a year ago he would have been my preferred candidate.
