Pat,

TI is being nice to those people who may need the LOSS in 1997!

Pat --<By not tendering my shares I don't consider it a revolt as much as a means of voting.

TI wanted an all-cash deal. Fine. But be considerate and give us another tax year to absorb the hit.>

I just don't want to give in easily. I believe we have power with our votes. Lucent or whomever may be getting the White Horse ready.

:)

[Sold all my shares, taking my profits and moving on]

I've been invested in Amati for over two years now. Watched it go from 6 to 36 per/sh and back. I believe that this TI deal is the best that we are ever going to see. The competition is getting too great and the companies that are getting involved with XDSL, too many.

Who's going to pay more than 20 bucks a share for Amati? Let's get real. Amati will be absorbed by TI (a gorilla company) and that's that. A done deal. Business as usual.

I'm taking my profits now and start a new quest for another promising AMTX-type company.

Many thanks to you, Jim and the rest for all of your valuable input and insights over the past two years on what has been one heck of a ride.

I was hoping on retiring with the help of AMTX. Heavy sigh....:((

My heart and blood pressure will enjoy the rest now.

Goodbye and good luck to all,

Franco

Hi Pat,
I agree with you about holding till 98 for tax purposes. On another note, what happens to Amati's relationship with Mot now?
Best of luck,
alvin

Hi Pat,

Texas Instruments, probably better than anyone including Amati, knows what the market for this DMT chip is. They know what the profits for the software development/upgrades will be. The fact that they have bought Amati, despite already essentially owning the chip, is a ringing endorsement of those projected profits. They paid $20 because that's all they had to pay on 11-19-97. If the other big guys wake up and realise the implications of TI's offer, I think we may see some more bidding. Even if a Lucent didn't win in a bidding war, why let TI get a tasty morsel for so cheap. GTE made Worldcom go hock the family gold fillings to be able to afford MCI. Let's see someone else put TI through the ringer before this one is over (ie. it ain't over till the fat chip maker screaches!)- though I do respect TI as a talented company.

Hope your Nov. Calls worked out,

Regards,

Richard

PS Will there be a stock holders' meeting before this is over? We should have a large Amati New Year's party for the thread, as it passes on in '98. I think RC and JS should spring for it, since you can't buy this type of marketing ;^) !
