That is truly tragic and I understand more about it than you might think. I don't think the government should stop the man from shoving food in his mouth and I don't want the government to either force or deny the man a procedure that has only a 50% chance of survival. If I were that man I'd take it and pray for the downside of that equation. I don't think the government should stop people from shooting meth either. However, I have no objection to shooting perps who fuel the meth market for their victims. My position is that I hate meth cookers and the culture that encourages meth use. I plan to stay as far away from it as I can. I've heard about a few back woods meth cookers around here and I told the sheriff about it.
