what am i missing here?

what you are missing is that the owners of the park, Brookfield properties are the only ones who can have them removed. If they ask the police to do so, they will. Here's the problem. Brookfield Properties has received $135M in funding from the obama administration for their windfarm in New Hampshire.

and....

rumor has it that Bloomberg's girlfriend is on the board of Brookfield Properties.

I bet the businesses and residents in the neighborhood are thrilled to have thousands of vagrants move in next door.

Bloomberg has no right to say the protesters stay if the private landowner wants them gone. The owner should trespass them and if the won't leave, ask the police to arrest them. Of course the park owner is part of a company that supports Obammy.
